The Left Coast Quintet was formed in 2014 as an ensemble looking to find new & fun music for wind quintet. We quickly found many brides & grooms, corporate event planners, and others that were looking for exactly what we offer- live music with a sense of fun, great customer communication, a wide range of music styles, and something different than what was already out there.
In 2016 we began offering other smaller ensembles, with the hope that anyone would be able to find a group that would fit at their event, both in the space provided and in their budget. Our wind trio, string quartet and trio, and solo instrumentalists offer just that - the ability for our group to really cover the spectrum of what people are looking for in wedding and event music.
What is a Wind Quintet?
A wind quintet, also known as a woodwind quintet, is a group of five wind players, traditionally Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, French Horn, and Bassoon. The Left Coast Quintet also includes wind doublers on Sax, English Horn, Contrabassoon, Bass Clarinet, and other instruments when needed, and can add percussion. Wind quintets were first introduced in Vienna in the late 18th century, and are used frequently for their varied sounds and limitless abilities. When considering a group to perform both outside or indoors, our wind quintet is a versatile ensemble with a wide range of available music.
Wedding Music with a String Quartet
The classic wedding string quartet or trio is the go to for many couples looking for live wedding ceremony music. A string quartet consists of two Violins, Viola, and Cello, and can play both traditional wedding music and newer pop covers. A string trio consists of Violin, Viola, and Cello, and sometimes includes a pianist. String ensembles are well suited for both outdoor and indoor weddings and events, but might require a microphone for amplification over larger crowds.
Instruments in a Wind Trio
Smaller events, smaller spaces, or smaller budgets might find our wind trio more suitable for event or wedding music. A wind trio consists of Clarinet, Flute, and Bassoon, although we tend to throw in some Sax for more jazzy pieces. Our wind trios have performed for weddings, holiday parties, corporate events, cocktail hours, birthday celebrations, and housewarming parties- really any event would be classed up by having a wind trio perform.
Wedding Solo Musician
For smaller weddings, having a soloist is a perfect way to bring acoustic music without overpowering the event or draining your budget. Our soloists include flute, piano, harp, violin, cello, sax, and guitar.
